Preferencias y opiniones de estudiantes de un Programa de Pedagogía en Inglés con distinto nivel de competencia lingüística acerca del tratamiento de los errores en la escritura en LE: estudio de caso en una universidad chilena

Learners’ preferences and opinions about error treatment have been scarcely studied despite the impact they could on learners’ engagement with a corrective and, consequently, learning of target language (Lee, 2008; Han, 2017). Thus, this quantitative exploratory study investigates, through use questionnaire, 133 students, different levels linguistic competence an English Pedagogy Program from national university, regarding correction written errors. The results show that, regardless proficiency level, participants highly value correction, especially grammatical errors; however, there are significant differences in degree importance assigned to grammar writing instruction, students higher level showing greater independence. Despite autonomy, both groups favour focused strategies explanation prefer teachers provide correction. These findings great significance for context instruction since allow restricting counterproductive strategies, thus enhancing acquisition language.
